The Morgante firm is born in Sicily in the wonderful countryside of Grotta in province of Agrigento, on the initiative of a family farmer, who has put to interest the experience accumulated from five generation of viticulturists. In 1994, Antonio Morgante thanks the enthusiasm of his sons Carmelo and Giovanni, decided to make wine with the grapes of one’s own vineyards, beginning with a laborious research with intend to the exploitation of the viticultural tradition and to renewal of the productive technique for the exaltation of the value of the autochthonous vine, the new international vine. In 1997, a stroke of luck, arrives in the firm the great oenologist Riccardo Cotarella, with whom the family Morgante plans the improvement of one’s activity of agricultural experimentation and the perfecting of the vinification technique in order to produce great red wines of Nero D’Avola. The family managed a farm-firm of 200 hectares among sowable land vineyards, almond trees, on a hilly area an altitude between 350 and 550 metres on the sea-level and 25Km far from the fantastic Temple Valley of Agrigento, in one of the most famous area for the vine growing, with the typically Mediterranean climate, going through the clayey – calcareous land of middle-mixture of calcareous-marly soil (land). In Sicily the red wine par excellent is the Nero D’Avola, and it is this vine that the family always grows in their own land. The whole control of the production cycle, from the management of the vineyard to the management of the cellar, is under the strong control of the members of the family, each one in his part of research of a quality that remains intact in the time. |
